Skincare Tricks for Rosacea Relief
Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that is characterized by redness, flushing, and sometimes a bumpy skin texture. It affects millions of people worldwide and though the exact cause is often unknown, triggers like stress, alcohol, and certain foods can worsen symptoms. Fortunately, there’s no need to blush anymore-- by incorporating the right products and following a consistent skincare regimen, it is possible to achieve a clearer, calmer complexion despite the challenges of rosacea.
Less is more.
I know, all the rage is the 10-step skincare routine, but when it comes to sensitive skin, it’s best to pare down to a product lineup that is gentle and easy to stay consistent with.
The Routine:
A gentle cream cleanser
Calming facial serum (bonus points if it repairs the skin barrier)
Apply a hydrating moisturizer
For mornings, finish off with an SPF
Where's the toner?!– it’s best to skip this step. Astringents & toners often have glycolic acid and should be avoided if you have Rosacea as it can irritate the skin.
Weekly: Apply a soothing or nourishing sheet mask to supplement your routine. I recommend the Vanilla Oat Milk Nourishing Mask or the Strawberries & Cream Soothing Mask
For any additional treatments, consult with your dermatologist
Protect your skin’s barrier
If you suffer with combination skin, it might be tempting to exfoliate and scrub off that bumpy texture, but the best thing to do is to nurture your skin’s natural barrier with products containing hyaluronic acid (or anything with a hydration boost).
Another great way to save your barrier is to use a silk or microfiber washcloth. Pat, don’t wipe. Rough towels can often irritate your skin and exfoliate away your protection.
